EP 39. Finding Calm in Your Business When Everything Feels Chaotic

You can watch this episode on YouTube or listen to the audio version below.

Chapter 1: When Life Gets Messy, Your Business Feels It Too

After a long pause, I’m back on the mic.

The past year has been full of transition—moving, separating, finding a new home, and helping my kids settle into new routines. It’s been a lot emotionally, physically, and mentally.

Through it all, my business has been an anchor. It’s where I come back to creativity, clarity, and myself.

If you’ve been in a similar season—caring for ageing parents, managing chronic illness, supporting kids with big needs, or just trying to hold it all together—you know how easy it is for your business to start feeling heavy.

This episode is for you if you’ve been asking yourself how to find calm again when everything feels chaotic.

Chapter 2: You’re Not Behind—You’re Just Human

When life feels full, consistency slips. Things pile up. Your creative spark fades.

But taking a break doesn’t mean you’ve failed—it means you’re human.

Slow business teaches us that what your business needs most isn’t speed, it’s alignment.

Ask yourself:

  • Where do I feel most out of sync right now?

  • What’s asking to be simplified or released?

  • What would it look like to rebuild slowly and gently?

Chapter 3: Energy—Protect What’s Precious

You are the engine of your business. Without your energy, nothing runs.

If you’ve been over-giving, over-perfecting, or saying yes when you mean no, your energy might be leaking.

Try this:

  • Build buffers into your days—space between calls or creative work.

  • Shorten your work windows to match your energy.

  • Notice your body cues—tension, headaches, irritability—and pause to reset.

Your business doesn’t thrive when you push harder. It thrives when you honour your capacity.

Chapter 4: Creativity—Rekindle What Feeds You

When life is stressful, creativity is often the first thing to go. But it’s also what brings joy and flow back into your work.

Ask yourself:

  • When was the last time I created something purely for me?

  • What used to feel fun that I’ve stopped doing?

  • Where in my business do I still feel sparks of curiosity or joy?

Creativity doesn’t have to be strategic. It can be journaling, painting, designing something playful in Canva, or rearranging your workspace.

For me, it’s filming and editing little cinematic videos. It’s not always the most practical use of time, but it brings me back to why I love storytelling and design.

Start with twenty minutes a week to create something with no agenda at all.

Chapter 5: Values—Return to What Truly Matters

Your values are your compass when things feel off track. When you drift away from what matters most, your business starts to feel heavy.

Ask yourself:

  • What values guided me when I first started?

  • Which ones have I neglected?

  • How can I bring them back this week?

If you value connection, nurture the relationships you already have.

If you value ease, simplify your offers or processes.

If you value beauty, refresh your workspace or visuals to inspire yourself again.

When you make decisions from your values, your business starts to feel like home again.

Chapter 6: Three Gentle Ways to Realign This Week

01 \ Create a Clarity Hour

Set aside one quiet hour this week.

Reflect on:

  • What’s working?

  • What feels forced?

  • What do I want my business to look and feel like six months from now?

02 \ Simplify One System

Tidy one thing—your Canva folders, client process, or digital workspace.

A little order brings a lot of calm.

03 \ Revisit Your Top Three Values

Write them down and ask:

“How can I embody these this week?”

Small, gentle adjustments are what create sustainable change over time.

Chapter 7: Slow Is Still Moving

Finding calm in your business isn’t about doing more—it’s about doing what matters most, with intention.

You don’t have to rush your way back to alignment.

You can feel your way there—slowly, gently, and sustainably.

Ask yourself:

What would my business look like if I stopped trying to keep up and started listening to what feels right instead?
